Current activities

Our initial activities focus on priorities identified for King's Hedges and Arbury by the head of North Cambridge Academy and the chair of North Cambridge Community Partnership:

LISTEN: Engage with the community, community groups and schools to identify issues and co-create projects

COLLABORATE: Facilitate cross-sector collaboration, avoiding duplication and aligning resources. Facilitate community engagement and collaborative development of initiatives. Needs identified by North Cambridge Academy include:

  • Therapeutic support for children, young people and their families
  • Bespoke work experience, mentoring, skills development, role models, careers guidance and employment opportunities for young people (specifically pupil premium)
  • Increased enrichment opportunities — trips and experiences (including Duke of Edinburgh) that build cultural capital

RESOURCE: Recruit volunteers for clubs and extracurricular/weekend activities (coding, STEM, DT)

RESOURCE: Work with Cambridge Community Foundation to attract and coordinate funding for specific projects

SHARE: Attend and contribute to city/county-wide events and networks to gain oversight and contribute to discussions around and progress towards inclusion and opportunities for all

LISTEN / LEARN / COLLABORATE: Convene forums and workshops to align stakeholders, including businesses, and share progress

LISTEN / SHARE: Track and tell the stories of individual young people from the community
